After taking this course you will
  • Be aware of the particular issues facing those who claim asylum on the basis of their sexual and gender identity, and apply them to taking instructions
  • Know the current case law concerning these claims
  • Know sources of information to support these asylum claims
The course does not seek to cover the general asylum process.

Tutor biographies:David Chirico David works for claimants in all areas of immigration and asylum law, representing vulnerable clients and particularly those whose asylum claims raise issues relating to sexual/gender identity.  David regularly trains on ILPA's Article 8 update course and for UK Lesbian and Gay Immigration Group (UKLGIG).

Tim Barnden Tim recently joined Bates Wells Braithwaite as Senior Associate after 10 years at Wesley Gryk LLP.  He is the Chair of Trustees of the UK Lesbian and Gay Immigration Group and a regular trainer for ILPA on Significant others: applications by partners and It's all about the money: the financial requirements.
