DT 1353 (FULLY BOOKED) From base metal into gold? The rights of third country nationals after Zambrano

A seminar focusing on the Zambrano judgment, the issues subsequently arising, subsequent relevant judgments of the Court of Justice (McCarthy, Dereci), national jurisprudence and UK Border Agency policy and their implications for practitioners. Alison Hunter, co-convenor of ILPA’s European subcommittee and Adrian Berry will facilitate a discussion between participants of the best approach to different scenarios including challenges to UK Border Agency policy, the meaning of dependency, how widely Zambrano can be read, the relationship between the judgments in Zambrano and Chen and the interaction of Article 8 and Zambrano.

| Tutor biographies: | Adrian Berry is a barrister at Garden Court Chambers. He practices in EU law as it occurs in immigration, homelessness, social services and social security law. He has appears in cases before the Court of Justice of the European Union, as well as senior courts and tribunals in the UK. He works on cases concerning EU citizenship, free movement, social rights under EU law and fundamental rights in the EU legal order.
