 The role is for a Paralegal to provide support to the Immigration team. You will have a central role to play in providing technical advice and guidance related to all immigration matters. 

 The Immigration team sits within the Employment, Pensions and Immigration group although we work closely with Private Client.  We advise on all aspects of UK immigration law including the Points Based System as well as European law relating to the freedom of movement of EEA nationals and their dependants. Our lawyers work very closely with the private client practice and regularly advise high net worth individuals and their families in respect of their UK immigration position, in particular Tier 1 Investor. The practice also services a number of the firm’s employer clients and regularly advises HR professionals in respect of the legalities of employing overseas nationals in the UK, sponsor licence applications and compliance, Tier 2 General and Tier 2 ICT.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities (this is a broad but not exhaustive list):

•           liaising with clients on various aspects of their applications by telephone, email and in person

•           drafting letters and emails to clients

•           drafting applications to be submitted to UK Visas and Immigration, in particular Tier 1 Investor, Tier 1 Entrepreneur, Tier 2, sports visas (visitors, Tier 2 and Tier 5) and applications for EEA nationals and their family members.

•           legal research

•           assisting with training and presentations to employer clients

 Personal skills

•           preferably a law graduate

•           at least two years’ experience as an immigration paralegal, ideally gained within a comparable firm

•           experience of advising and preparing PBS applications in particular Tier 1 and Tier 2

•           experience of advising and preparing applications for EEA nationals

•           ability to communicate at all levels

•           excellent telephone and letter writing skills, with ability to draft basic documents

•           organisational skills and ability to prioritise

•           able to work on own initiative with a high attention to detail
