We are looking for a full time paralegal to join our Immigration practice.   The hours are 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. The Immigration group’s work involves providing advice in all aspects of immigration, nationality and related European Union and Human Rights law, includes complex immigration cases, the crossover of the immigration rules and FA, Premier League and FIFA regulations, Tier 1 (investor) & Tier 2 (general) and (sportsperson) applications.

Our clients include private individuals of diverse backgrounds, international footballers, corporate business, top Premier League football clubs, charitable foundations and theatre and film production companies.

The position is full time and permanent.  The role will involve working directly with the Immigration Partner in the Private client department.

Applicants require an excellent academic record, achieving a minimum of a 2:1 LLB (or equivalent). They must have 1- 2 years relevant work experience and an excellent knowledge of immigration law and practice   including preparing applications  entry clearance by overseas client and applications for an 

extension of leave for those in the UK; the points based system and  assisting with  preparation for  immigration appeals and applications for judicial review. 

The role and duties

The role will involve assisting with routine and complex personal and corporate applications.  Day to day duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Assisting with and completing immigration applications documents to meet Home Office requirements (drafting application forms and letters of representation).
  • Legal research, reviewing immigration rules and keeping up to date with changes in Immigration law and practice; compiling results.
  • Liaising with the Home Office
  • Attending conference calls, client meetings and occasionally accompanying clients to meetings at the Home Office.
  • Attending appeal hearings before the Immigration and Asylum Tribunal.
  • Be familiar with the administrative tasks associated with submitting entry clearance applications and applications for an extension of leave.
  • Dealing with day to day administration of immigration files – i.e. Booking appointments with and purchasing additional services from UK Visas & Immigration commercial partners; typing emails and correspondence, filing, scanning, photocopying and keeping files up to date.
  • Assisting with client invoicing and the preparation of bill narratives.
  • Assisting with drafting client and matter opening forms, client due diligence and money laundering requirements and preparing draft retainers.
