Paralegal roles - UK immigration law

Working directly with one of our partners or senior lawyers each paralegal will assist in legal research, drafting advice/submissions and general client correspondence and will enjoy substantial client contact (under supervision) as their experience grows.

LDS prides itself on the quality of training, supervision and support given to all our lawyers at every level, including paralegals.  The paralegal will participate in LDS’ technical update programme along with all fee-earners (which includes internal and external training courses, monthly technical update team meetings and various events) and will benefit from continuous on-the-job legal and skills-based training and feedback.  We also encourage all staff to engage in wider activities such as business development, networking and public speaking.  We believe we offer a challenging, stimulating, supportive and enjoyable environment for staff.  We are proud to offer a range of wellbeing initiatives including an Employee Assistance Programme, a weekly wellbeing drop-in surgery, team building events, in-house exercise classes (yoga, Pilates, Tabata), weekly fruit basket and weekly drinks evening.  Our initiatives recently secured the award for Wellbeing at the 2019 LexisNexis Legal Awards.

Holding at least a bachelor’s degree and ideally a relevant law qualification, candidates should be enthusiastic and committed with a ‘can-do’ approach.  Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and a professional manner are essential.  Immigration law knowledge/experience is desirable however we also consider candidates with limited or even no direct immigration experience if appropriate skills and aptitudes are demonstrated.

We do not guarantee training contracts to paralegals, however historically all our trainee solicitor places have been filled in-house by paralegals who have excelled in their roles.  This role therefore can offer an excellent career progression for the right candidate.
